Volksfreude is a pseudo from Tim Gaal.
Tim Gaal hails from the south of The Netherlands and has been actively involved in the techno scene since 2001. As an events promoter and resident DJ he organised countless events and parties. He played alongside DJ's and live acts like Steve Rachmad, Joel Mull, Joris Voorn, Aril Brikha and many others. Since 2007 he is employed as dance promoter and production coordinator for Poppodium Perron55: a nice mid-size concert venue for popular and alternative music in the city of Venlo. In 2010 he teamed up with fellow DJ and music collector Sander Prins and together started their own record label: aDepth audio.
The focus of aDepth audio lies on the more deeper and emotional side of techno music, with a heavy link to Detroit techno. With their distinctive artwork, limited vinyl releases, high quality pressings and last but not least: very well received tracks, they drew a lot of attention to them. In their first year they released tracks and EP's of well established producers like Microworld, Kirk Degiorgio and Arne Weinberg, alongside new talented producers like Rob Belleville and Erell Ranson. Although Tim Gaal has been producing music since the age of 16, it's only a year ago since he decided this had to become his next main focus.
Production wise he uses a “best of both worlds” approach, by using mainly analogue gear as sound sources and digital editing techniques for arrangement. Most of his tracks can be identified as a pleasant mixture between the feel of retro house and techno records and the impact of modern day techno and tech-house tracks. His track "Suspended Animation" was released on Rennie Fosters Dirty Works label in 2010. The goals for the near future are already set, with upcoming remixes and releases on his own and other labels.
Without the past there is no future.
